Made Local, Made To Last

Design and Crafts Council Ireland relaunches The #MadeLocal campaign

Saturn Cottage Industries is so proud to join this campaign, alongside the many talented craftspeople across Ireland who make such beautiful objects. Supporting local makers not only enriches our collective craft heritage, but it also bolsters the Irish economy.

According to Rosemary Steen, DCCI CEO, for every €1 spent on Irish craft, up to €4 circulates in the local economy, generated among local suppliers, the supporting industries, and adjacent local employment.

When I first saw the DCCI run their #MadeLocal campaign, it felt like exactly what I wanted to be doing, and I’m so pleased to participate in it this year. The integrity of our work as craftspeople depends on the engagement and patronage of the Irish public and Irish institutions, so I am grateful to see the DCCI putting out such great messaging. You can find Saturn Cottage Industries listed among the participating craft business on the DCCI Made Local directory.

Emotional durability is a Circular Design solution I have been focusing on this year, and the addition of the phrase, "Made To Last", feels affirming and serendipitous as I develop my work as part of the Circular by Design pilot program.
